Motörhead Owns 2011: Tour, Album, Anniversary, Documentary

There comes a time in every rock fan’s life when they finally discover the heavy metal gods known as Motörhead.  Not so much their loud, fast, gritty style of rock and roll—which you should be listening to in the first place—but for the name of their iconic frontman, Lemmy Kilmister.

Lemmy Kilmister is arguably one of the best names in music history.  It’s also very fun to say out loud.  you should try it.

"Lemmy Kilmister."

Don’t worry, you’ll be saying it all day.

To all those Motörhead fans yelling at their monitors right now, relax.  I know "Ian" is his real name but who cares?  Besides, he’d probably kill you if you called him "Ian" anyways.

Kilmister is the subject of an upcoming documentary called “Lemmy: 49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son of a B*tch.”  you won’t be able to see this cinematic tour de force in theaters.  The two-disc DVD, containing four-plus hours of bonus features, hits the proverbial store shelves on Feb. 15.  The flick will also be available via digital download and on Blu-Ray.

"Lemmy the Movie" has received positive reviews from just about everyone except Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, the other two members of Motörhead.

Campbell and Dee don’t like the film because they’re not in it.  Film crews followed the band around for years but when it came time to edit, Campbell and Dee were left on the cutting room floor.

Dee’s biggest moment in the film is when he lies down in the tour bus and falls asleep to an episode of the Family Guy.  In other words, the movie is all about Kilmister, not Motörhead.

But 2011 is all about Motörhead.  The band will be celebrating 35 years of metal mayhem mania (or is it metal mania mayhem?).

Since 1984, the British trio has absolutely ripped it up on stage.  Heavy metal fans are always clamoring for more Motörhead tickets.  Besides their legendary live shows, the band has also released 20 studio albums.

Their latest offering, The Wörld is yours, drops Feb. 8.  The ten-track opus was produced by Cameron Webb.  He previously worked with the band on the albums Inferno, Kiss of Death, and Motorizer.

To support their latest release, Motörhead will tour North America starting Jan. 25.  Concert number one is planned for the House of Blues in Anaheim, California.

Highlights of the 27-date trek include stops in Las Vegas, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto, and new York.

Motörhead’s tour not only starts in the Golden State but it ends their too.  The final show of their North American leg is scheduled for March 11 in Los Angeles.

Later in the month, Motörhead gets back out on the road for a series of shows in Australia and South America.

It may not be the "Year of Motörhead," but it sure is close.  by mid-March, fans celebrating their 35 years of great heavy metal music will have a new album to listen to, a new documentary to watch, and plenty of Motörhead concerts to attend.

Bop It Game – Three Things You Need to Know

Bop It Game Three Things You Need to Know

There is a new Bop It on the market. the Bop It hand held, electronic game is fashioned after Simon Says.  the toy gives you a command to perhaps pull or twist one of its levers, you then have a very short time to find the right lever and do as it says. It you do not make it in time, you lose but if you succeed the commands continue, getting faster and faster. This toy is predicted to be in the top 10 best selling toys this Christmas, so what do you need to know about it?

  1. Bop It first came on to the market back in the mid ’90s and has been developed over the intervening years into various versions. the latest version is confusingly just called Bop It, as the original toy was, so do not confuse it with Bop It Extreme, Extreme 2 or Extreme Download, which can now fetch higher than recommended retail prices.
  2. The original Bop It only had three inputs – a pull it lever, a twist it lever and a bop it push button disc in the centre. all of the Extreme versions had two more levers, introducing the added complications of flick it and spin it. the new version has reverted back to the three options but has included a shout it command where you shout into the inbuilt microphone.
  3. The new Bop It game has 300 difficulty levels and is aimed at children aged 8+ years. Expert and Master skill levels are unlocked once your high score reaches 100 points. If you crack the Master level you can also try the all new Party Bop mode for even more fun. This mode is quite hilarious as you are now challenged to ‘bop it’ on various body parts like your elbow or head – ouch.
